In the process, as he is incarnated into the Prince Flamadin, he meets up with another descendant of Ulrich Von Bek, who himself is named Ulrich, and who seeks to destroy Adolf Hitler and his Third Reich, but has been flung into another dimension.

In “The City in the Autumn Stars,” Ulrich Von Bek’s descendant, Manfred Von Bek, has fled the bloody and terrible French Revolution, seeing both sides as fanatical and morally bankrupt. But there are those enlisted in Hell’s ranks that do not agree with Lucifer’s decision and seek only the destruction of their changed master and his champion Along with his newfound ally, the young swashbuckler Sedenko, General Von Bek must journey into another realm known as the Mittelmarch and quest for the Grail. The first novel, “The War Hound and the World’s Pain,” which in my opinion is the best of this collection, tells the story of Ulrich Von Bek, a general in Germany’s during the Thirty Years War when gruesome religious battles are tearing Europe apart in the 17th Century. This volume includes the novels “The War Hound and the World’s Pain,” “The City In the Autumn Stars,” “The Dragon in the Sword,” and the short story “The Pleasure Garden of Felipe Sagittarius.”
Ulrich Von Bek is one incarnation of the Eternal Champion, a warrior called from many dimensions to fight for the Cosmic Balance in the neverending war between the forces of Law and Chaos. “Von Bek” is the second volume in the collected White Wolf editions of Michael Moorcock’s “Eternal Champion Cycle, released in the mid-90s.
